Feeding the 5000 Singapore is a community food festival that aims to raise awareness for the 791,000 tonnes of food that are annually going to waste in Singapore. On March 25 at the City Square Mall, Gone Adventurin and partners will provide a free (halal!) meal for 5000 members of the audience, made entirely from top quality ingredients that would otherwise have gone to waste.
The internationally renowned Feeding the 5000 events have taken place in over 40 locations around the world since the first edition in London in 2009 and is now coming to Asia for the first time! Together with our partnering organisations Food Bank Singapore, Food from the Heart, Free Food For All and Insectta Farm, we’re aiming to start a national movement of food waste in Singapore and encourage retailers and supermarkets to do their part to reduce food waste by regularly donating surplus food to people in need.
It’s a party to celebrate the delicious solutions to food waste, so there will be food personalities, chef demonstrations, food waste activities, live music, community talks and more!
Let’s start the national movement on reducing food waste together!

There’s lots to do besides enjoying the delicious free feast and the live music.
Be enlightened on the topic of food waste in Singapore and inspired by its delicious solutions! Attend community talks on Singapore’s first circular-loop insect farm, ground-up initiatives to rescue vegetables and more!
Not to worry if you can’t make it for all the talks, swing by the community booths to find out more.
Feeding the 5000 Singapore aims to raise awareness on the 790,000 tonnes of food that go to waste every year in Singapore, to encourage public acceptance of food nearing expiry (including blemished produce and dry foodstuffs about to expire), and spur wholesalers and retailers to start donating their surplus unsold food, starting a national movement on reducing food waste from cafes, restaurants, retailers including supermarkets, wholesalers and households.
Feeding the 5000 will be a zero-waste event, meaning no unnecessary materials will be used (e.g. flyers or single-use plastic.) Waste will be limited to organic waste that will be properly by-processed after the event. Surplus food will be donated to the partnering food distribution programs.
We will bring together a coalition of organizations and communities that offer local solutions to food waste based on the food waste pyramid. Our partners include Food Bank Singapore, Food from the Heart, Free Food for All, NEA, Insectta and Feedback.
Feeding the 5000 is the flagship campaigning event of Feedback; a UK-based environmental NGO that campaigns to end food waste at every level of the food system. Feedback was founded by renowned food waste campaigner Tristram Stuart, who recently visited Singapore. Following his visit, Feeding the 5000 is coming to Singapore!
